MindCare Privacy Policy
Summary
MindCare is a mental wellness app. Your mood logs, safety plans, journal notes, and profile data are stored on your device. We do not operate a user account backend or cloud sync service for that content.
The Android app may show banner advertisements via Google AdMob on selected screens (for example, Home). That is separate from your wellness and Health Connect data, which MindCare does not send to AdMob.
Data we store on your device
Depending on how you use the app, locally stored data may include:
- Profile name and optional profile photo
- Mood entries, tags, triggers, and analytics derived from your logs
- Safety plan and trusted contacts
- AI support chat history
- Meditation/breathing activity and app settings
- Optional Health Data from Android Health Connect (see below) if you grant permission
Sensitive items may be encrypted on-device using keys stored in the platform secure store.
Health Data (Android Health Connect)
MindCare may access and collect Health Data through Google Health Connect on Android when you choose to connect it. This section discloses that access, collection, and use.
How we access and collect Health Data
- Access is optional and happens only after you tap Connect on the Health Dashboard and grant permissions in Health Connect (or system settings).
- MindCare uses read-only Health Connect permissions. We do not write health records back to Health Connect.
-
We request access to the following Health Data types:
- Steps (
android.permission.health.READ_STEPS) - Sleep (
android.permission.health.READ_SLEEP) - Heart rate (
android.permission.health.READ_HEART_RATE) -
Resting heart rate
(
android.permission.health.READ_RESTING_HEART_RATE) -
Exercise / activity (
android.permission.health.READ_EXERCISE) -
Active calories burned
(
android.permission.health.READ_ACTIVE_CALORIES_BURNED) - Distance (
android.permission.health.READ_DISTANCE) -
Health data history
(
android.permission.health.READ_HEALTH_DATA_HISTORY) when needed so overnight sleep and recent samples are not truncated
- Steps (
How we use Health Data
- Health Data is used only to display personal wellness metrics on the in-app Health Dashboard (for example, today’s steps, last night’s sleep duration, latest heart-rate reading, and activity such as exercise minutes, active calories, or distance), alongside mood information you already log in MindCare.
- Health Data is not used for medical diagnosis, treatment, clinical decision-making, advertising targeting, analytics sold to third parties, or credit/insurance decisions.
- MindCare does not send Health Connect records (steps, sleep, heart rate, exercise, calories, distance, or history) to Google AdMob or other advertisers.
Storage, sharing, and retention of Health Data
- Health Data read from Health Connect is processed on your device to populate the Health Dashboard.
- MindCare does not upload Health Data to a MindCare backend or cloud sync service (we do not operate application servers for user content).
- We do not sell Health Data or share Health Data with advertisers.
- You can revoke Health Connect permissions at any time in Android / Health Connect settings. From Profile → Privacy & Security you can also delete MindCare app data stored on the device.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
On Android, MindCare may display banner ads using the Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) SDK on selected screens (currently Home).
- Ad requests are handled by Google. Google may collect or process device advertising identifiers, IP address, coarse device/app signals, and similar data needed to serve and measure ads, under Google’s advertising / privacy policies.
- MindCare requests non-personalized ads where the SDK option is available; Google may still serve ads and collect limited technical data required for delivery and fraud prevention.
- MindCare does not sell your data. MindCare does not provide your mood logs, safety plans, journal notes, AI chat content, or Health Connect data to AdMob for ad targeting.
- You can reset or limit the advertising ID and ad personalization in your device settings (Android: Settings → Google → Ads, or equivalent) and in Google account ad settings.
Data sent off your device
By default, no personal wellness data or Health Data is uploaded to our servers because we do not operate application servers for user content.
The app may contact third-party services in these cases:
- Streaming meditation/nature audio from public CDN URLs (no personal wellness data is sent)
- Optional crash reporting when configured at build time — only sanitized error summaries are forwarded; Health Data and mood content are not intentionally included
- External crisis resources when you tap phone/SMS/web links on the Crisis Support screen
- Google AdMob, as described in Advertising (Google AdMob) above
Your choices
From Profile → Privacy & Security you can:
- Review how data is handled (including this Privacy Policy)
- Delete all app data from your device
You can also:
- Manage or revoke Health Connect permissions in Android system settings / the Health Connect app
- Limit ad personalization via device / Google advertising settings
Children
MindCare is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Medical disclaimer
MindCare is not a medical device, does not diagnose or treat conditions, and is not a HIPAA-covered service. It is not a substitute for professional medical or mental health care. In an emergency, contact local emergency services or a crisis line.
Changes
We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date will change when we do. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
